Aruba Hosts DuCaPHEN and MoBoCon 2026 to Strengthen Regional Public Health Cooperation
ORANJESTAD – Aruba is hosting two important regional meetings this week: the annual conference of the Dutch Caribbean Public Health Expertise Network (DuCaPHEN) and the annual meeting of MoBoCon (Mosquito-Borne Control Network).
These meetings bring together experts, public health professionals, and vector control specialists from various countries and islands within the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
DuCaPHEN is a collaborative network established to strengthen cooperation in public health, epidemiological surveillance, emergency response, health promotion, and crisis management among Aruba and the other islands of the Dutch Caribbean (Curaçao, Sint Maarten and the Caribbean municipalities of the Netherlands, Bonaire, Sint Eustatius, and Saba). The conference provided a platform for the exchange of knowledge, experiences, and best practices across a wide range of public health fields.
In addition, Aruba hosted the annual MoBoCon (Mosquito-Borne Control Network) meeting from June 2 through June 4. This initiative brings together representatives of the teams responsible for vector and mosquito control across all Dutch Caribbean islands. Over the course of three days, participants shared experiences, research findings, challenges, and practical solutions related to the prevention and control of mosquito-borne diseases.
Part of the program took place in the conference room of the Department of Public Health (DVG), where participants attended presentations and technical discussions. In the afternoons, the group visited various community locations to exchange field experiences and observe mosquito control methods implemented in Aruba.
These two meetings highlight the importance of regional collaboration in strengthening preparedness and response to public health challenges throughout our region. They also provide valuable opportunities to learn from one another, strengthen professional relationships, and develop joint solutions to protect the health of our communities.
By hosting DuCaPHEN and MoBoCon 2026, Aruba reaffirms its commitment to regional cooperation, innovation, and the continuous strengthening of public health for the benefit of all residents of the Dutch Caribbean.
