Aruba has its Council for the Elderly.

This is an old post.

ORANJESTAD - The Ministry of Elderly Affairs announces the establishment of a Council for Senior Citizens (RAVO) for Aruba.

Due to the lengthy administrative procedure of reorganizing the Social Economic Council secretariat, the establishment took some time.

The Ministry of Elderly Affairs, however, established the commission "Ouderenzorg in perspectief" (Elderly care in perspective) in 2023. This committee served as a precursor to the RAVO and provided guidance on matters of paramount importance in the care of our elderly citizens.

The establishment of the Office Secretarial Support (Bureau Secretariële Ondersteuning SER) and Additional Councils (Additionele Raden - BOSSAAR) was recently approved by the Council of Ministers, allowing the Council for Senior Citizens Aruba to be formed.

RAVO's goal and task is to ensure dialogue with the target group to stimulate possibilities of participation of senior citizens in the community, Monitor and identify national and international developments on the welfare of senior citizens, aging, management, pensions, and relevant laws in the field here.

The RAVO will also provide advice to the Government of Aruba on issues relevant to senior citizens in the community.
