Aruba Explores Airlift Opportunities with Emirates
ORANJESTAD – Aruba’s Minister of Tourism, Transport and Labor, Mr. Wendrick Cicilia, led a delegation that met with executives of Emirates Airlines in Bogotá, Colombia, to explore the possibility of future flights to the island.
Minister Cicilia described the talks as “very positive,” noting that Aruba’s strategy to diversify its tourism markets aligns with Emirates’ expansion plans in the Americas. “At present, Emirates does not operate in the Caribbean. This would be a historic opportunity for Aruba,” he said.
Both sides agreed to continue discussions, with Aruba providing further information requested by the airline. While infrastructure adjustments may be needed to accommodate larger aircraft, officials expressed confidence that Aruba is well-prepared.
