If you have an appointment in your name, you are the only person authorized to pick up the license plates,

If you cannot pick up the plates yourself

You must notify DIMP if you can not pick up the plates and would like to authorize someone else. DIMP registers who picked up the plates.

Why is it important?

License plates are a means of identifying your vehicle. It is crucial for the police force. That is why DIMP delivers your plates to you or the person you authorized.

We are strict.

We are strict about to whom we deliver the plates. On the day of the appointment, we ask you to identify yourself with an ID card, driver's license, or passport. This way DIMP can confirm that the right person is looking for the plates. It can be your spouse, child, family, or friend.

What should I do?

Adhere to the following guidelines if another person picks up the license plate for you: 

  • Notify DIMP if another person picks up the license plates for you. Inform DIMP of the name change before the appointment.
  • Call us at 522 7423 or 522 7424 or e-mail info@impuesto.aw.
  • You can also reply to the mail of the appointment and inform us (this is not valid for pensioners).
  • Give us the name, telephone number, and e-mail address of the person you authorize to pick up your plates so we can register the data in our system.
  • The person you have authorized will receive a confirmation email. He will also receive reminders and instructions on the process (this is not valid for pensioners).
