Agreement with N.V. ELMAR to facilitate the use of electric vehicles within the government.

This is an old post.

ORANJESTAD - On Tuesday, March 12, 2024, Minister of Economic Affairs, Mr. Geoffrey Wever, together with the director of N.V. ELMAR, Mr. Anthony Irausquin, and the director of the Department of Economic Affairs, Commerce and Industry (DEACI) Mrs. Maria Dijkhoff-Pita, signed an agreement with N.V. ELMAR.

This agreement is for the installation charging stations for electric vehicles on private property for a government department, in this case, the DEACI.

The minister expressed his gratitude to N.V. ELMAR for their commitment and valuable contribution, resulting in concrete action for our community and our environmental benefit. The government's vision is to replace all government vehicles with electric ones, contributing to sustainability and efficiency within the government organization. This first step is a pilot project with N.V. ELMAR, and soon the entire DEACI fleet will be replaced by electric cars.

This change will significantly reduce fuel usage and thus contribute to a cleaner environment.

N.V. ELMAR offers its charging network for electric vehicles around Aruba, namely the EV ChargeUp service. Minister Wever remarked that this agreement with Elmar facilitates the installation of charging stations for electric cars. It serves as a model for others in the public or private sector and helps to accelerate the transition to a more sustainable economy.
