Abattoir (Veterinary Service) – Operating Hours for the Busy Season (November–December 2025)
ORANJESTAD – The Veterinary Service reminds the public that anyone wishing to slaughter a goat, sheep, or pig for consumption must do so at the official slaughterhouse.
Home slaughtering of animals is illegal and poses serious health risks to humans.
During the busy season of November and December 2025, the Abattoir will operate from Monday to Thursday, in the morning, starting Monday, November 10, through Thursday, December 18, 2025. The Abattoir will reopen on Tuesday, January 13, 2026.
Please note that all slaughtering at the Abattoir is by appointment only. Owners who wish to have one or more animals slaughtered must call in advance to schedule an appointment and ensure an organized process.
To make an appointment, please contact the Veterinary Service at 522-4310 or 522-4320, or visit us in person at Veterinary Service Barcadera 1.
Animals must be brought exactly at the scheduled appointment time. If you arrive late, you will need to make a new appointment. Please remember that no services will be provided without an appointment.
On the day of slaughter, meat can be collected after payment is made to the administration. Please note that the slaughterhouse does not provide meat storage services and is not responsible for storing meat.
The final day for slaughtering animals is Thursday, December 18, 2025, with limited capacity. We urge everyone to make appointments early and avoid last-minute requests.
Let’s work together to ensure that the Abattoir operations run smoothly and efficiently, helping everyone enjoy a safe and pleasant end of the year.
