Working Visit to De SGR Group in Curaçao

ORANJESTAD – On Friday, June 5, Ms. Mervin Wyatt Ras, Minister of Public Health, Social Affairs, Elderly Care, and Addiction Care of Aruba, paid a working visit to De SGR Group.

The visit focused on strengthening mutual acquaintance, exchanging knowledge, and exploring opportunities for further collaboration in the fields of specialized healthcare and rehabilitation. Accompanied by De SGR Group’s Board of Directors, consisting of Managing Director Carlanne Emerenciana and Director of Support Services Linda Cijntje-Gout, as well as the organization’s management team, the minister visited several of the group’s facilities.

During the tour, Minister Wyatt Ras gained insight into the wide range of services provided by De SGR Group and the support that is offered daily to clients with diverse healthcare and support needs. The program included visits to the Curaçao Rehabilitation Center (RCC), Curaçao Orthotics & Prosthetics (COP), the Therapeutic Toddler Group (TPG), the residential facilities of Fundashon Verriet, De Waarborg Care Farm, and Kas Noord Zapateer Phase 2.

A particularly meaningful moment during the visit was the meeting with clients from Aruba who currently reside at Fundashon Verriet. At present, 26 Aruban clients make use of the organization’s residential and care services. During a warm and personal gathering, the minister had the opportunity to speak with several clients. As a token of appreciation, they presented her with a handmade artwork and a recitation, making for a memorable and meaningful encounter.

The minister also had the opportunity to experience firsthand how clients spend their day within several of Fundashon Verriet’s facilities. She attended various day-activity programs, spoke with clients and staff members, and observed how guidance, treatment, and community participation are put into practice. These direct interactions provided valuable insight into the positive impact the organization’s services have on the daily lives and well-being of its clients.

The visit provided an excellent opportunity for a meaningful exchange of experiences and expertise. The management of De SGR Group looks back on the visit with great appreciation. The open discussions, genuine interest, and engagement shown toward both clients and staff made the working visit an inspiring and valuable experience for everyone involved.

Minister Wyatt Ras also reflected positively on the visit:

“We look back on a truly valuable and inspiring day. We were impressed by the quality of the services, the facilities, and, above all, the passion, expertise, and dedication of the staff. It was encouraging to see how well the Aruban clients are supported and how much attention is given to their well-being. We felt very welcome and would like to thank De SGR Group for its warm hospitality and for the openness with which the organization shared its work with us.”
