Why are vaccines important?

ORANJESTAD- Department of Public Health is making the community aware of the importance of vaccination to protect health and safety.

Vaccines are crucial for protecting health and saving lives.

In the past, many children tragically died or were left with severe complications such as paralysis, deformities, sterility, or deafness after contracting diseases like polio, measles, whooping cough, diphtheria, and other illnesses.

But vaccines have limited the spread of many of these diseases, and in some areas, they have been eradicated. Conditions like influenza and COVID-19 no longer cause as many deaths, and even cervical cancer, which is caused by a virus, can now be prevented through vaccination.
