Waste Disposal Site Records Positive Results in Its First Three Weeks
ORANJESTAD - Since its official opening, the permanent waste disposal site in Barcadera has been delivering positive results, providing the community with a more accessible, convenient, and responsible way to dispose of waste.
During its first three weeks of operation, a total of 2,472 vehicles used the facility. During the same period, 376 waste containers were emptied, accounting for a total of 487 tons of waste.
Minister of Tourism, Transport, and Labor Wendrick Cicilia expressed his satisfaction with the community’s active participation and emphasized that the figures confirm the need for a permanent waste management solution in Aruba.
“These results demonstrate that the community values the facility and is making active use of it. Together, we can keep Aruba clean and create a more pleasant environment in which to live, work, and visit,” Minister Cicilia said.
The government encourages all residents with bulky waste, yard waste, or other approved types of waste to take advantage of the service. The waste disposal site is completely free of charge and is open Monday through Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. This provides the community with greater flexibility to dispose of waste responsibly.
By using the facility, every resident contributes directly to a cleaner, better organized, and more sustainable Aruba for future generations.
