Visit to Stichting Eliezer to strengthen support for rehabilitation and mental health.

ORANJESTAD—Recently, Minister of Public Health, Social Affairs, Elderly Care, and Addiction Management, Dr. Melvin Wyatt-Ras, visited the facilities of Stichting Eliezer, where he was received by director Mr. Gino Frans and his management team for a detailed tour and presentation.

Stichting Eliezer is a rehabilitation center especially designed for men with addiction problems or mental health problems. The center offers admission and guidance based on gospel principles, focusing on restoration, personal development, and preparation for reintegration into society as responsible and successful citizens.

During the visit, Minister Wyatt-Ras had the opportunity to see various parts of the facility: the kitchen, cafeteria, recreational area, and living space for residents. The center utilizes animals such as donkeys and turtles for therapy in a natural setting, surrounded by nature, Indian art, and a tranquility that enhances well-being.

Currently, Stichting Eliezer provides care to 25 residents, adapted to their individual needs. The director and his family live on the land to create an environment of security, community, and family structure. Apart from nature and animal therapy, spiritual orientation is also an integral part of the rehabilitation process.

Minister Wyatt-Ras expressed his admiration and respect for Mr. Frans, his family, and all the employees for the dedication and love they put into such a noble and vital job. The minister believes in continuous collaboration and structural and human support to strengthen the positive impact that Stichting Eliezer has in our community.

"Those struggling with addiction are also part of our community. Addiction is a disease, and with proper care, every person deserves a second chance to achieve a dignified and purposeful life," Minister Wyatt-Ras concluded.

The visit is part of a series of visits and collaborations with agencies that offer direct care to the vulnerable in our community.
