Travel with peace of mind: information on customs procedures

ORANJESTAD- The Holiday season has arrived and to ensure a worry-free trip, the Customs Department shares the following information and tips.

Personal luggage and other products:

Each person can bring personal use products (only) purchased abroad with an invoice value of up to 900 florin, for which it is not necessary to pay import tax. For products exceeding this amount, you must pay import duties on the entire product.
Customs advises keeping all invoices to calculate the value of the product brought.

Products tied to a limit:

Products such as alcohol and cigarettes are subject to a limit.

Amount of alcohol allowed:

  • Each person aged 16 and over can bring 1 liter of alcoholic beverages, e.g., rum or whiskey, or 2.25 liters of wine, or 3 liters of beer.

Amount of tobacco allowed:

  • Each person 16 years of age and older may bring 200 pieces (1 slof) of cigarettes, or 2 pieces of cigarettes, or 50 pieces of cigarillos, or 250 grams of tobacco.

If you exceed the allowed amount, you must pay import tax and excise duty. Please note that the products must be in your possession to be eligible for import duties and excise tax exemption. Exemption does not apply to products brought in a group.

The Customs Department urges travelers to take note of the information shared. Your cooperation helps ensure a safe journey and arrival for all travelers.
