The Trunk of Clyde

ORANJESTAD— The National Library of Aruba has received five copies of the book The Trunk of Clyde by local author Mr. Clyde Harms.

Mr. Harms is a well-known writer of historical stories in Papiamento and has published numerous articles in local newspapers. The Trunk of Clyde is a collection of 100 articles, which library visitors will soon be able to read.

The themes of the articles vary, but the cultural and historical topics stand out most prominently. Mr. Harms began writing when he was a student at Juliana School.

In 2013, he published Stories of a Lagoon Child. The library’s collection also includes An Arubiano in Libya and History of Baseball in Aruba: The Early Years.

In 2003, Mr. Harms was appointed a Knight in the Order of Orange-Nassau for his contributions to social work. He is currently 94 years old.
