The Orange Envelope Containing the 2025 Income Tax Return Form Will No Longer Be Mailed
ORANJESTAD – For the 2025 tax year, the Tax Department will make the Income Tax Return Form available digitally through the BO Tax (BOi) portal.
This means that taxpayers will no longer receive the form by mail in the familiar orange envelope. Below is some important information.
Date of Availability
The date on which the form will become available has not yet been officially determined but is currently scheduled for November 2026. Once the date has been finalized, the Tax Department will announce it officially.
New Format
The 2025 Income Tax Return Form will be completely digital and will therefore have a different format from what taxpayers are accustomed to. Taxpayers will complete the required information online and upload the necessary supporting documents. After reviewing the return, it can be submitted electronically.
Once the return has been submitted, the system automatically records the filing date. This date can be viewed at any time through the BOi portal.
Taxpayers are encouraged to keep a copy of their electronically filed tax return for their personal records.
BOi Account
To access the Income Tax Return Form, every taxpayer who files an income tax return must have their own BOi account. This also applies to married couples, as each spouse must have a separate BOi account.
The Tax Department urges anyone who has not yet created a BOi account to do so as soon as possible to avoid delays or last-minute inconvenience.
Authorized Representative
Taxpayers who wish to have another person or a tax accountant prepare and file their tax return on their behalf must first authorize that individual through their BOi portal. Once authorization has been granted, the representative will be able to access the taxpayer's return.
Preparing Your Documents
Although the digital tax return form is not yet available, the Tax Department encourages taxpayers to begin gathering the documents needed to complete their 2025 income tax return. These may include:
- Annual salary statement;
- Business pension benefits;
- Old-age pension benefits;
- Widow's or orphan's pension benefits;
- Rental income records and side job income;
- Bank statements and interest statements;
- Documents from other institutions;
- Life insurance documentation;
- Proof of charitable donations;
- Proof of tuition payments for children studying abroad.
Taxpayers who operate a sole proprietorship must also prepare their 2025 annual financial statements. If they are unable to do so themselves, they are advised to consult a qualified tax advisor with sufficient knowledge of the applicable tax laws.
The documents required to file an income tax return remain unchanged. The major difference is that all supporting documents must now be submitted electronically. This means taxpayers must either scan their documents or take clear photographs of them, save them as PDF files, and upload them through the BOi portal.
The Tax Department team responsible for the IB Online project is currently working diligently to complete the digital filing system. Throughout the year, the Tax Department will provide additional information regarding the 2025 Income Tax Return.
It is therefore important for everyone to be aware that the familiar orange envelope will no longer be delivered to their home.
