The opening of the Aruba International Raceway Park Palo Marga takes place in September
ORANJESTAD: Reconstruction of the Palo Marga racetrack in San Nicolas started in April 2024.
Kurt Johnson, a professional on the preparation of drag racing tracks in the US and abroad, from the professional organization Total Venue Concepts (TVC), was recently in Aruba to share his knowledge.
They used Ace-quality asphalt for the first time as a unique mix for the drag racetrack located in Palo Marga. The track will now comply with international standards for at least ten years.
In addition, the concrete near the start of the track is of a unique blend. In the second phase, new equipment will arrive in Aruba by the end of August. It will compound the track to an international level. Once this arrives, Mr. Kurt Johnson will return to Aruba to train the local staff of Palo Marga on how to work with it. The painting work will begin in August.
The Ministry of Sports expects the reopening of Palo Marga to take place next September. Upon completing the project, Drag Race organizers can start organizing races and bring drag racing back to the international level.
