The official launch of the "FIFA Mini Arena Turf" project took place at S.V. Unistars Pos Chikito.
ORANJESTAD—On February 10, 2026, the official start of the construction of the project "FIFA Mini Arena Turf" took place on the field of S.V. Unistars Pos Chikito.
This moment marks a vital step in improving Aruba’s sports infrastructure and creating more accessible spaces for our community, especially for children and youth.
Minister of Sport, Mr. Gerlien Croes, announced the commencement of construction in the presence of representatives from the sports sector, including the national football federation (AVB), Lotto pa Deporte, and various partners who are actively contributing to the project's realization.
The FIFA Mini Arena Turf project is part of FIFA’s international initiative focused on creating small football pitches within communities worldwide. This initiative emphasizes accessibility, inclusivity, and talent development to provide greater opportunities for sports participation and growth in a safe and modern environment.
According to the plan, Aruba will have its first operational FIFA Mini Arena Turf in about six weeks. Furthermore, we aim to continue developing similar projects in other neighborhoods, with the same objective of creating greater opportunities for sports, physical activity, and community development.
Minister Gerlien Croes thanks all those involved who have contributed to this success and looks forward to the next phase: the official opening of the mini-arena, where the community of Pos Chikito can celebrate a project that puts youth and sports at the heart of the development.
