The Goods Inspection and Hygiene Service continues to enforce food sales controls during Carnival.

ORANJESTAD – During the Carnival period, as every year, the Goods Inspection and Hygiene Service (DWH) of the Department of Public Health conducts inspections of food sales along the parade route, at various stops, and during events.

During recent inspections, DWH identified multiple instances of employees working and selling food without valid health certificates. In such cases, DWH took immediate action by informing the person involved that they were not allowed to continue selling food to the public.

The procedure is clear: if the vendor does not have a valid health certificate, they must find another person who does have a valid health certificate to take over the work. If no replacement is available, the vendor must close the stand or location and immediately stop selling food.
DWH will continue its inspections during the remaining parades and events of the Carnival season to ensure that food offered to the public complies with all hygiene and food safety standards.

The Goods Inspection and Hygiene Department emphasizes that having a valid health certificate is essential for anyone working with food. It safeguards consumers, vendors, and overall public health.

DWH remains dedicated to safeguarding community health, embodying the motto "Your Health, Our Priority."
