The Department of Public Health seized a container of damaged eggs.

This is an old post.

ORANJESTAD—After the Department of Public Health (DVG) received a valuable tip, its Department of Food Inspection and Hygiene's inspector went out to inspect a container of eggs that, according to information, contained damaged eggs.

The tip that DVG received proved to be accurate. After inspecting the container, the DVG inspector discovered damaged eggs. DVG seized the container right away and ordered the eggs to be destroyed.

The community is being notified and reminded to exercise caution when purchasing and/or consuming eggs since DVG is unsure of the number of contaminated eggs that might have been on the market before today, May 7.

A damaged egg can be detected by:

  • Putting it in a glass of water; if the egg floats, it indicates it is not good.
  • Smell: Damaged eggs smell bad.
  • Texture: If at the time of opening the egg, it is very watery or there is discoloration, it is not good.
