The Department of Foreign Relations reports that VFS Global in Haiti resumes acceptance of Caribbean visa applications.

ORANJESTAD—The Department of Foreign Relations (DBB) announces that VFS Global in Haiti will again accept applications for Caribbean visas from Monday, February 9th. The online appointment system is now back open.

The reopening is a positive development for Haitians, as for a long time it was not possible to apply for a visa to the Dutch Caribbean at home. This had consequences for various situations, including travel to visit family and emergencies such as attending funerals. The situation also applies to individuals with a pending residence permit application and who are in possession of a DIMAS VTA. They also faced difficulties in obtaining a visa to Aruba because the VFS facility had been closed for some time.

The Department of Foreign Affairs recognizes that issues have arisen recently as many applicants in Haiti have been unable to submit their visa applications immediately. The resumption of this service may now contribute to a more accessible Dutch Caribbean visa application process.
