The Council of Ministers of the Kingdom repeals the RAft and sets a deadline for the 2025 budget discussion.

ORANJESTAD – On Friday, February 21, during a government press conference, outgoing Prime Minister Evelyn Wever-Croes provided updates on two important decisions for Aruba made during the Kingdom Council of Ministers (Rijksministerraad).

Repeal of the RAft law

The Kingdom Council of Ministers has decided to repeal the RAft law (Rijkswet Aruba financieel toezicht). The RAft was a condition set by the Netherlands to assist Aruba in navigating the COVID-19 pandemic. The Aruban government disagreed with its content and has been negotiating the conditions ever since. Today, the Kingdom Council of Ministers has withdrawn this law from the table.

Deadline for the 2025 budget

The Kingdom Council of Ministers has set a deadline for Aruba to address the 2025 budget. The deadline for this is March 31, 2025.
