The book 'Pancho y su drum' is now available at the youth library!

ORANJESTAD – The National Library of Aruba recently received 5 copies of the children's book 'Pancho y su drum' (Pancho and His Drum) by Lizette Winterdal, with illustrations by Roman Gibbs.

This book shows how a child uses his imagination to transform an everyday object into a musical instrument. In his attempts to make music, he runs into a dilemma when he realizes his mother needs his drum. How does Pancho solve that problem?

Lizette Winterdal is the author of three children's books: 'Mayra su regalo' (Mayra's Gift), 'Dos lagadishi sinta riba un nanishi' (Two Lizards Sitting on a Nose), and 'Pancho y su drum' (Pancho and His Drum). She has a great passion for writing stories, poems, and verses, and enjoys sharing her work with family, acquaintances, and young readers.

Lizette was born on April 12, 1979, in Aruba and grew up in San Nicolas. She comes from a large family with seven sisters and is the youngest of them all. Her native languages are English and Papiamento.

In addition to her work, she studied at the evening HAVO in San Nicolas, where she earned her diploma. Lizette wanted to become a teacher and studied at the Aruba Pedagogical Institute (IPA). She has since decided to change her field of study and is currently focusing on Dutch as a second language.

She loves music and dancing, and her hobbies include writing stories, poems, and rhymes. She often says that reading a book is like a free ticket to wonderful places where you get to meet new characters.

Lizette is the proud mother of four children: a son, Brandon, and three daughters, Crystal, April, and Gili. This is the second time Lizette has participated in the Children's Book Festival, and she is excited to read her stories to the children.
