The 20th Social Forming group has started.

SVT (Sociale Vorming Trayect) opened registration a few weeks ago to invite/inspire the young people of Aruba to be part of Social Formation group 20.

Social Forming provides young people aged 17 to 25 a second chance in their lives and is part of this initiative. On Monday morning, as the sun rose, 16 young people arrived at the Mariniers Kazerne Savaneta to kick off SVT20.

SVT Coordinator Jessica Ras took the floor during the short welcome ceremony and then guided the group to their first day of training. A wonderful day indeed for all young individuals who chose to pursue their goals with courage and determination, aiming to complete this journey successfully.

It is a great satisfaction to see that the young people have presented, and that they will enter the barracks and make a change in their lives. The initial phase of the journey will last four months, consisting of basic military training, mainly conducted in the barracks.

As is known, the principal focus is discipline, respect, and teamwork. The young people of SVT20 will face their weaknesses and capitalize on their strengths. After four months, it will enter phase 2, which will last approximately eight months.

Jessica Ras also indicated that she will allow the young people who, for one reason or another, did not show up to join this group during the coming days.  

The Social Forming Program (Sociale Vormingstraject) was introduced in Aruba in 2010 in cooperation with the Dutch Ministry of Defence. The first part of the program includes training in military discipline at the Marinierskazerne and under the command of Arumil officers.
