Santa Rosa Aruba participated in the "Farming the Future" conference in the Netherlands.
ORANJESTAD— Recently, a delegation from the Directorate of Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries/Santa Rosa Aruba, led by director Nathalie Maduro, participated in the international conference "Farming the Future," organized by farmingthefuture.nl in the Netherlands.
"Farming the Future" is a global platform where agriculture and food production professionals meet, network, and share knowledge about the future of agriculture. The event focuses on topics like smart farming, sustainable practices, and innovation in the agri-food sector.
All this is in line with the vision and policy of the Ministry of Primary Sector, which aims to increase and stimulate local production of fruits and vegetables using technology that compensates for the limitations of our climate, land availability, and soil.
During the conference, the Santa Rosa delegation met with various international experts and Dutch agritech promoters to analyze, among other things, the following topics:
- Technology for smart agriculture, precision agriculture, and digitalization;
- Strategies for nature-inclusive and regenerative agriculture;
- Ways to reduce food waste, improve food quality, and strengthen local food production systems.
"We are working hard to implement modern and innovative agriculture in Aruba, using agricultural technology and innovation to make Aruba less dependent on imports and to offer our local population opportunities to start an agriculture business. Santa Rosa's participation in this forum is part of our strategy to achieve this," according to Minister of Finance, Economic Affairs and Primary Sector, Geoffrey Wever.
