Rodgers Beach Beautification is a Fact.
ORANJESTAD—Construction company Van Kessel Havenbouw recently completed the project for the Rodgers Beach beautification.
The entire project, including the area and the parking lot renovation at Rodgers Beach, started with a signed agreement in 2023. Construction work started in January 2024 and was completed at the end of May 2025. All this is according to the Seroe Colorado master plan.
While Van Kessel Havenbouw executed the project, the supervision and coordination were in the hands of the infrastructure committee led by the Ministry of Tourism, consisting of DOW, DIP, DNM, TPEF, and A.T.A. In total, the project cost more than 1,000,000 Afl.
The beautification project included a new asphalt layer on the road and parking lot. They constructed a new asphalt road and a new parking lot. A sidewalk was built so that people could walk from the parking lot to the beach. The entire area landscape, which is heavily visited by both our locals and tourists, has been improved.
This project aimed to improve the Rodgers Beach area by improving parking and accessibility. This improvement is aimed at protecting our beach environment and creating additional space for marine enthusiasts, which contributes to environmental sustainability and the overall user experience.
However, a long-term plan for the area is still lacking. The plan is to replace the existing pavilions with five new palapas, repair the pier in front of the existing concrete pavilion, and reinstall the dive platform. They will demolish the existing concrete pavilion and build a new pavilion on the same site. Next year, the plan is to construct public baths for the entire area.
ATA guides its investments in this area by five principles: community engagement, sustainable coastal development, carrying capacity, regenerative practices, and ongoing advocacy. Projects related to these topics represent approximately 18% of the total marketing expenditure of ATA's annual budget. Every year, they oversee many projects to enhance our inhabitant's quality of life and safeguard our natural resources and tourism destinations.
ATA is grateful to be part of this and calls on you to take good care of the site, enjoy it, and be a responsible user!
