Reminder: National Library of Aruba Hosts Workshop for Teachers
ORANJESTAD – The National Library of Aruba reminds teachers that they are invited to participate in a special workshop organized in connection with the upcoming Children’s Book Festival 2025.
The workshop is designed to help teachers introduce this year’s festival theme in the classroom, select appropriate books for reading activities, and explore ways to engage students in shared reading experiences. The theme for 2025 is: “Aventura na Granel! (A Grand Adventure!).”
As in previous years, the Instituto Pedagogico Arubano (IPA) is collaborating with the library to host the event.
Several experts will lead interactive sessions:
- Educator and facilitator Gino Vrolijk will present “From Memories to Adventures in the Classroom.” He will demonstrate how teachers can draw on their own experiences as a powerful source of inspiration to motivate children to read, develop a love of books, and enjoy listening to stories.
- Drama teacher Daylan Krozendijk will lead “Adventure in Every Corner,” a session that uses drama and critical thinking to transform personal memories into unforgettable classroom adventures.
- Valerie Figaroa, coordinator of the Children’s Book Festival and head of the School Media Department, will highlight a selection of books on the festival theme available at the library and provide practical classroom tips.
The Children’s Book Festival will take place from November 3–7, 2025. Throughout the week, children’s book authors and illustrators will visit participating schools. Schools will receive registration forms by mail.
Teacher workshops are scheduled for September 29 and 30 at the library in Playa/Oranjestad, and on October 1 at the library in San Nicolas.
Registration is available via kbfaruba@gmail.com.
