Reminder INTERLASADO: PARALEL Exhibition
ORANJESTAD – The National Library of Aruba is pleased to remind the public that the solo exhibition INTERLASADO: PARALEL by interdisciplinary artist Velvet Zoe Ramos will be on display in its exhibition space from July 10 through July 31, 2026.
'Paralel' is part of Interlasado, one of the many artistic disciplines Ramos explores in her creative practice, which also encompasses performance art, video art, ceramics, printmaking, painting, food art, and film.
In this exhibition, curated by Irvin Aguilar, visitors can admire a diverse collection of clay works and ceramics, alongside paintings and video projections.
The Philosophy Behind the Art
INTERLASADO: PARALEL invites the audience into Velvet’s imaginative world, where inspiring elements of nature, seeds, and the power of women converge. Concurrently, the exhibition pays tribute to the historic craft of working with clay.
Through the legacy of colonialism, working with clay was historically downgraded to an "inferior" art form. Ramos aims to elevate ceramics, bringing it to the same level of balance and recognition as other fine arts that have traditionally been viewed as more "exalted" or "sacred."
Official Opening
The public is cordially invited to attend the official opening night on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at 6:30 PM at the National Library of Aruba (George Madurostraat 13, Oranjestad).
