Presentation of the publication ‘Miel di abeha’
ORANJESTAD—On August 13, Genesis Gil Barrios presented her first publication, ‘Miel di abeha’ (Honey of Bees), to a packed auditorium.
The poet herself described it as a wonderful experience. Genesis told the audience about her development as a poet and the project to publish a collection of poems. She also searched for a title for her collection. This is a selection of poems she wrote over the years, during different phases of her life. She refers to them as love poems: expressions of love in various forms for different people in your life.
Inspiration stems from a variety of emotions and daily experiences. Genesis collects her life experiences and feelings in words, which she then further develops and refines in her poetic style.
The beautiful artwork for this publication is by Carla Garcia.
Genesis donated five copies of 'Honey' to the National Library of Aruba.
"Giraluna," Genesis's nickname, is a young poet from Aruba currently residing in the Netherlands. Giraluna teaches English. She describes her poetry collection as "a love story written in Papiamento, for anyone who realizes that love is sometimes a form of language."
