Post Aruba N.V. has started updating its fleet to electric cars.

ORANJESTAD—On May 27, 2025, another government entity, Post Aruba N.V., introduced its first five electric cars.

Gradually, Post Aruba N.V. will transition its fleet to electric vehicles. Post Aruba N.V. also contributes to the care of our environment and reduces the company's operating costs.

The Ministry of Finance, Economic Affairs and Primary Sector, and DOW, completed an extensive market study. They made a detailed inventory of the government car fleet and the options available in Aruba to replace it with electric vehicles. The changing the lease of automobiles at the Department of Economic Affairs, Commerce, and Industry (DEACI) started in September 2024. Last week SEDECO, another government department, changed to electric cars.

Gradually, Post Aruba N.V. will change its cars to electric cars. Post Aruba N.V. also contributes to the care of our environment and reduces the company's operating costs. It is part of the plan and vision that the Ministry of Finance, Economic Affairs, and Primary Sector continue via the Green Overseas (GO) program financed by the European Union (EU). In 2024, the government tasked Expertise du France (EF) with executing this project. It aims to foster sustainable, resilient, and inclusive development in the EU and UK countries and territories. For this project, the European Union allocated €190,000.

The objective is to hasten the shift to electric vehicles with European technical assistance. The European Union will use us as a case study to illustrate how this financing method may support sustainable development in European territories outside of Europe. It views our situation as an illustration of the effective use of EU funds.

"The switch to electric vehicles has advanced further for SEDECO since last week. We can be quite pleased that Post Aruba N.V. is taking this significant step today by adding the first five electric vehicles to its fleet," Minister Wever stated outside of Europe.

Minister of Finance, Economic Affairs, and Primary Sector Geoffrey Wever would like to thank the new director of Post Aruba N.V., Mrs. Esther Gomes, who realizes the necessity of switching to electric vehicles for their fleet. In addition to reducing Aruba's expenses and operational costs, this project will have a lower environmental impact, improving our quality of life, safeguarding our natural environment, and aiding in the fight against climate change.
