National Survey: “What Are We Eating?” continues.
ORANJESTAD—On March 24, 2025, the Department of Public Health, in collaboration with IBISA, CBS, and WEB Aruba N.V., launched the national survey titled "What do we eat?"
This comprehensive scientific study aims to gather information from our community regarding the products and foods most commonly consumed in Aruba.
As of yesterday, May 13, 2025, 213 citizens had already participated and completed the full investigation; this represents 35% of the stipulated target of 600 citizens. We thank the 213 citizens who participated for their time and contribution to improving our public health.
In the following weeks, until June 30, 2025, the "What do we eat?" surveyors will continue to visit various houses selected to participate.
The study consists of 2 parts:
- Survey - What do we eat?
- A laboratory study for the chemical part.
The implementation of this research is essential for several reasons.
- The study plays a crucial role in our food safety. By systematically investigating what substances we ingest through our food, we can identify the risk in time and adjust management.
- The study also offers valuable insights for policymakers and the food industry. The findings aid in making informed decisions regarding food safety and production practices.
- It has an influence on consumer education. By providing information about what is really in our food, we can make more informed and make more conscious decisions about our health and well-being.
