National awareness month against child abuse: Protection code

This is an old post.

ORANJESTAD - In connection with National Awareness Month against child abuse, the Ministry of Justice and Social Affairs, the Ministry of General Affairs, and other departments in the social field will share valuable with a focus on our children.

Protection Code

Since April 1, 2021, the Codigo di Proteccion (protection code) for the safety of children has been in effect in Aruba. The protection code is a system of five steps for professionals to apply when there is a suspected child abuse case of children aged 0 to 18 years. The protection code provides a uniform work guide for professionals in the social, judicial, health, and education fields to know how to attend to suspected cases of child abuse in a professional, secure, and fast manner.

The Department of Children and Youth created an online toolkit to support our professionals in these areas. The toolkit is for trainers and supervisors of the Protection Code and all professionals in the four sectors. The toolkit provides various information. In the toolkit on the website www.codigodiproteccion.com, you will find cases, videos, documents, and practical tips on tackling abuse situations.

The website is designed for professionals. However, it is available for the community who wants more information about the protection code. When a community has more knowledge, it will become more assertive and resilient. This way, we can contribute to a community more capable of offering safety and protection for our children to prosper.

Visit the website www.codigodiproteccion.com and consult the toolkit.
