Ministry of Foreign Affairs Issues Important Travel Advisory for the Vacation Season
ORANJESTAD – As the school vacation season begins, many citizens are preparing to travel abroad.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reminds all travelers that thorough preparation begins with checking the current travel advisories issued by the Kingdom's Ministry of Foreign Affairs for each country. This is particularly crucial for destinations with an orange or red color code.
Code Orange: Essential Travel Only
Travel to these areas only if it is strictly necessary, such as for an urgent family emergency or essential work. Vacation travel does not qualify; these areas are not safe.
Code Red: Do Not Travel
Travelers are strongly advised under all circumstances not to travel to destinations with a red code. The safety situation in these areas is extremely dangerous.
Important Note: If a traveler encounters difficulties in a country or region with an orange or red code, the Dutch embassy or consulate will likely be unable to provide assistance, or such assistance may be extremely limited.
Stay Informed Before You Travel
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs encourages anyone planning a trip to consult the official Nederland Wereldwijd (Netherlands Worldwide) website beforehand at: https://www.nederlandwereldwijd.nl/reisadvies.
On this website, you will find up-to-date and official information regarding:
- Current color codes and safety risks.
- Entry requirements (such as visas and passport validity).
- Local legislation and specific cultural customs.
- Contact information for Kingdom representations (embassies or consulates) in the event of an emergency.
By providing this advice, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hopes that all travelers are well-prepared before departure and wishes everyone a wonderful and safe vacation.
