Meeting with the board of directors of the Aruba Chamber of Commerce.

ORANJESTAD— On Wednesday, April 23, the prime minister of Aruba, Mr. Mike Eman, met with the board of directors of the Aruba Chamber of Commerce (KvK) at the Government Center.

During the formation process of the AVP-Future Cabinet, the formateurs met with several agencies, including the Chamber of Commerce. The latter urged the formateurs to keep holding meetings in an organized fashion once the new Cabinet formation was in place. The Chamber of Commerce is recognized for its role in the commercial sector but has expressed a commitment to think broader in the general interest of Aruba.

An essential point discussed was the need for the hotel sector to make a more equitable contribution to the development of Aruba. According to the prime minister, instead of imposing anything, the government will suggest a positive discussion to get a consensus. Under this proposal, the hotel business can contribute more to their employee salaries and the government coffers.

The goal is to encourage long-term collaboration between the Chamber of Commerce and the government so that every sector can contribute to Aruba's long-term development.
