Investment in medical care in 2024
ORANJESTAD - The Ministry of Public Health informs about investments in 2024 to improve healthcare service quality.
Investments in medical care are crucial to enhance healthcare services quality. Medical care involves not only visiting a general practitioner or receiving treatment in a hospital but encompasses many more components.
When investing in healthcare, the focus is on:
- Improving the quality of healthcare services;
- continuous investments in healthcare;
- ensuring the sustainability of the AZV fund;
- focus on preventive healthcare.
In medical care, some challenges require attention, and the Ministry of Public Health addresses these to improve the quality of care for the community. Medical care in Aruba has seen several significant advancements in patient care. Patients no longer need to travel overseas for radiation therapy or interventional cardiology surgery. Now ImSan and HOH Hospital handle these procedures and treatments. Additionally, there are 22 extra beds at ImSan, several new ambulances have been purchased, and Arubig formally recognizes local medical students who graduated in the region.
The government will invest nearly 14 million florins bin medical care in 2024:
- 5.1 million florins extra for the HOH Hospital;
- 4.1 million extra for ImSan;
- 1.8 million for Stichting BOB for early detection of breast cancer;
- 1 million for Respaldo to attract more professionals in the field of mental health care;
- 1.5 million to strengthen the primary care line and medical care digitization.
Investing in healthcare is essential, but prevention is even more crucial. Recently, Healthy Lifestyle Center inaugurated its second location at MFA Savaneta. The first location at IBISA and now these centers offer free services to the community, to anyone who wants to change and adapt their lifestyle. HLC now has 450 clients who want to change their lifestyles and are using the expertise of HLC to make significant changes and positively impact their lives.
