Introducing minimum hourly wages as of 1 January 2026

ORANJESTAD - On September 1, 2025, the Parliament of Aruba unanimously approved changes to the minimum wage law to introduce a minimum hourly wage. As of January 1, 2026, the minimum hourly wage will go into effect.

Important changes to the minimum wage law.

  1. As of the 1st of January 2026, it will be mandatory for all employees aged 18 or over, earning the minimum wage, to receive at least the minimum hourly wage regardless of the number of hours worked. The minimum hourly wage as of the 1st of January 2026 is AWG. 11,58. This change also applies to all employees working less than 40 hours per week (e.g., 5 hours per week must receive AWG 11.58 per hour).
  2. Approval was issued to correct the calculation of a minimum monthly wage. As of January 1, 2026, the factor 4,333 (previously 4.28) will be used to calculate the number of days. Factor 4,333 is the result of 52 total weeks in a year divided by 12 months, which becomes 52/12 = 4,333.
  3. The position of the domestic workers becomes clearer. A live-in domestic worker receives a minimum wage of AWG 5.35 per hour because the employer provides board and lodging. For all other domestic workers who do not live-in, the minimum wage is AWG 11,58 per hour.

How do you calculate the minimum weekly or monthly salary?

The following formula is used to calculate the minimum weekly wage:

  • Weekly wage = number of hours worked per week x minimum hourly wage.

To calculate the minimum monthly wage, the following formula will be used:

  • Monthly salary = number of hours worked per week x minimum hourly wage x factor 4,333
