Handover of Thesis 'Shadows in Paradise' by Dominique Lopez to the National Library

ORANJESTAD – This morning, Dominique Lopez presented her bachelor's thesis, titled 'Shadows in Paradise: A Qualitative Study on Social Factors Contributing to Juvenile Delinquency in Aruba,' to librarian Ms. Yosmar Sneek.

Dominique wrote her thesis to fulfill the requirements for her bachelor's degree (Bachelor 2023) at Maastricht University. The research focuses on the factors that contribute to youth delinquency in Aruba. The thesis will be included in the national collection of the National Library of Aruba in both physical and digital formats.

Dominique dedicated the thesis to her parents, Ms. Marisol Tromp and Mr. Edsel Lopez. For this study, she consulted and collaborated with five Aruban organizations dedicated to youth and child welfare: the Orthopedagogical Center Aruba, the Aruba Police Force, the Probation and Child Protection Foundation Aruba, the Youth and Vice Police, and the Correctional Institution of Aruba (KIA).

Dominique has since completed her Master of Science in Strategic Corporate Finance at the Maastricht University School of Business and Economics. Her master's thesis focused on supervisory-level commercial bank portfolio optimization. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. research in financial economics.
