Government congratulates Mr. Jurima Bryson as the first Ombudsman of Aruba.

This is an old post.

ORANJESTAD - Prime Minister Evelyn Wever-Croes, on behalf of the government of Aruba, congratulates the recently appointed first Ombudsman, mr. Jurima Bryson.

It was in the years 2004/2005 that the initiative began to introduce an Ombudsman to defend the people of Aruba. In 2010, a new bill was submitted, based on the 2004/2005 proposal, and recently some adjustments were made to the bill to be discussed by Parliament.

The Court of Justice, the General Audit Office, and the Advisory Council formed a committee to recruit and select the Ombudsman candidate.

The independent committee submitted three names to Parliament at the end of the process. After consideration, Parliament voted in favor of Mr. Jurima Bryson as the first Ombudsman.

The swearing-in takes place in October, and Aruba will officially have its first Ombudsman. Meanwhile, preparations and organization for the Ombudsman's office are underway, with costs falling under the Ministry of General Affairs budget.

The Prime Minister thanks the quartermaster, Mrs. Sahaira Kelly, who helped set up the organization for the Ombudsman of Aruba.
