Genealogy of Families with “de Cuba” Surnames in Aruba’s Savaneta

ORANJESTAD – On August 27, 2025, Mr. Urbano Figaroa submitted a new publication to the National Library of Aruba, titled Genealogy of Families with “de Cuba” Surnames in Savaneta.

This work is now part of Aruba’s National Collection, and visitors will soon be able to consult it at the Department of Arubiana. Mr. Figaroa personally presented a copy of his book to the department’s Deputy Head of the National Library, Mrs. Lilian Semeleer.

“To compile this genealogy, I gathered data, names, and other details from a variety of sources,” Mr. Figaroa explained. Copies of the book are available directly from the author and can be requested by calling +297 584-7598 or +297 563-2885, or by emailing figaroa@hotmail.com.

This is Mr. Figaroa’s second genealogical publication. In 2018, he released Figaroa: Descendants of the First Figaroa Who Arrived in Aruba in 1816, Known in Old History Books as Jose Anselmo Figaroa, which is also part of the Department of Arubiana’s collection.

Driven by his passion for Aruban family history, Mr. Figaroa has now focused his research on the “de Cuba” family from Savaneta.

Mr. Urbano Figaroa handed over the book entitled 'Genealogy of Cuban families in Savaneta' to the Deputy Head of the National Library of Aruba, Mrs. Lilian Semeleer.
