Fire Station Tango presents a new aerial ladder truck.
ORANJESTAD – On August 29, 2025, Minister of Justice Mr. Drs. Arthur Dowers paid a working visit to Fire Station Tango, the principal fire station located in Tanki Flip.
During the visit, Minister Dowers met with Fire Chief Mr De Haas and received a tour of the facilities of this vital department. He received a comprehensive overview of the 911 dispatch center, which manages emergency responses for both fire and ambulance services.
Following the tour, the Fire Department held a special ceremony, where, in the presence of guests, the Minister of Justice presented the “Aerial Ladder Operator AL-01” certificates to seven firefighters on duty. A total of 30 firefighters completed the training programme for operating the aerial ladder truck and received their certifications.
After the presentation of the certificates, Minister Dowers called the fire department’s central command to request the new aerial ladder truck. Within seconds, it arrived with sirens blaring, giving a live demonstration for the guests.
The aerial ladder truck arrived in Aruba a few months ago but required modifications to suit the island’s climate, as it was manufactured in Europe. After addressing a few minor technical challenges, the truck is now fully operational and ready for any emergency.
This specialized vehicle is not only ideal for combating fires from elevated positions; it is also capable of evacuating individuals who cannot descend stairs and require transport on a stretcher.
