Final week of registration for the "Poet of the Fatherland" competition

ORANJESTAD—The National Holiday Celebration Committee (CCDN), together with the Word Art Committee, consisting of the Aruban Department of Culture (DCA) and the Fundacion Corector di Papiamento (FPI), is organizing the prestigious competition to select our Poet of the Fatherland for 2026.

This year is special, as we celebrate 50 years of our national anthem and flag and 40 years of our Status Aparte.

Therefore, we cordially invite all writers, poets, and reciters to gain inspiration and write their best poem in Papiamento about Aruba and its culture. Your participation is a valuable contribution to the celebration of our national anthem and flag in 2026, and testifies to your love for our country. The deadline for registration and submission is March 6, 2026.

The "Poet of the Fatherland" competition will take place on March 14, 2026, at 7:00 PM at the Nicolaas Store in San Nicolas.

Registered writers must present their work in person. If a writer is unable to present their work themselves, they may have someone else present it. Each writer may submit one (1) work.

The poem must be written in Papiamento and contain 4 to 5 verses. Each stanza must consist of 4 lines and rhyme.

To register for the 2026 "Poet of the Fatherland" competition, please email artedipalabra@gmail.com, register online or call the Aruba Cultural Department for more information at 582-2185.
