FIFA Arena Project in Aruba
ORANJESTAD—The Ministry of Sports recently held a constructive and important meeting with representatives of FIFA and the Aruba Football Association (AVB) to finalize the agreements regarding the 'FIFA Arena' project.
This innovative project aims to construct two mini-grass designated outdoor playing areas in phase 1 on two fields selected by the government, AVB, and FIFA, which they will announce shortly. The initiative is part of a global FIFA pilot program, and Aruba is proud to be one of the selected locations for its implementation. These designated outdoor playing areas will connect to school districts or clubs with active children's and youth teams. This initiative enhances the investments that will also be made in full-size grass fields.
In an official letter to the AVB dated May 22, the Minister of Kingdom Relations, Education, Youth, Innovation, and Sports, Gerlien Croes, confirmed that the government of Aruba fully supports the project and that initial preparations have begun through meetings with relevant local stakeholders. Consultations with government agencies and other partners are already underway, and the next phase will involve operational coordination to prepare the area for implementation.
The FIFA Arena project aims to enhance our sports infrastructure and provide greater access to sports for youth participation. The Ministry of Sport is committed to continuing to work closely with FIFA, the AVB, and relevant stakeholders to ensure successful implementation.
