Exhibition INTERLASADO: PARALEL
ORANJESTAD – The solo exhibition INTERLASADO: PARALEL by interdisciplinary artist Velvet Zoé Ramos will be presented in the exhibition hall of the National Library of Aruba.
PARALEL is part of INTERLASADO, an ongoing artistic project that encompasses the diverse disciplines explored by Ramos, including performance, video art, artist-made ceramics, printmaking, painting, food art, and filmmaking.
Curated by Irvin Aguilar, the exhibition features a selection of ceramic works, paintings, and video installations that highlight Ramos's multidisciplinary artistic practice.
INTERLASADO: PARALEL invites visitors into Ramos's imaginative world, where nature, seeds, and the strength of women serve as recurring sources of inspiration. At the heart of the exhibition is the artistry of working with clay—a medium that, through the legacy of colonialism, has often been marginalized and regarded as a lesser art form. Ramos challenges this perception by placing ceramics on equal footing with the fine arts traditionally considered more prestigious or "sacred."
The public is cordially invited to attend the exhibition's official opening on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. at the National Library of Aruba (George Madurostraat 13, Oranjestad).
The exhibition will be open to the public from July 10 through July 31, 2026.
About the Artist
Velvet Zoé Ramos (b. 1988, Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA) is an interdisciplinary visual artist who lives and works in Aruba. Ramos earned her BA (Honors) in Fine Art from Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London, in 2011.
