Embassy of the Kingdom Reaffirms Support for Aruba
ORANJESTAD – During a recent meeting with the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Bogotá, Aruba Tourism Authority (A.T.A.) CEO Ronella Croes emphasized sustainability as a central pillar of the organization.
She noted that sustainability has become an area of growing interest in the Colombian market and has been well-received by the Dutch representation in Bogotá.
Croes highlighted that sustainable development remains a guiding principle in A.T.A.’s strategy, and she underscored the openness of the Colombian market to Aruba’s efforts in this field.
New Campaign for Responsible Tourism
A.T.A. will launch a new campaign in Latin America next year to turn this vision into action. Inspired by the successful “When you love Aruba, it loves you back” campaign in the United States and Europe, the initiative will emphasize that visitors also play a vital role in protecting and enhancing the island’s quality of life. The goal is to ensure that travelers, even before arriving in Aruba, understand the values the island stands for and the importance of respecting them.
Local Partnerships and Guest Engagement
Croes also outlined a series of collaborations and agreements between A.T.A. and local partners, designed to strengthen Aruba’s commitment to sustainability.
These include partnerships with:
- CEDE Aruba, supporting neighborhood centers;
- Stimami Sterilisami, addressing the issue of stray dogs and cats;
- Aruba Conservation Foundation, focused on nature protection;
- Go Cultura Foundation, promoting culture;
- Educational institutions, including EPI and EPB. Also plans to formalize cooperation with the University of Aruba, where joint initiatives are already underway.
Finally, Croes stressed the importance of visitor participation in Aruba’s sustainable future. Tourists must be mindful of their impact and contribute to creating the Aruba that both residents and guests aspire to enjoy.
The new communication strategy aims to raise awareness not only among visitors during their stay but also among local businesses, encouraging them to share key information with guests about responsible behavior, codes of conduct, and relevant regulations. In doing so, A.T.A. seeks to foster a shared responsibility for preserving the island’s environment, culture, and overall quality of life.
