Education and Labor Platform (POA) and Kingdom Scholarship (Koninkrijksbeurs).
ORANJESTAD - In today's rapidly evolving world, where the labor market advances through technology, globalization, and economic demand, the education system is crucial in preparing students with the necessary skills and knowledge to tackle ongoing challenges.
The introduction of the Education and Labor Platform (POA) projects aims to accomplish this. Its goal is to achieve better alignment between education and the needs of the labor market.
Based on the training from the BVP program, companies can more efficiently guide practical interns from vocational education institutions such as Openbare Avondleergangen Aruba, EPB, and Colegio EPI. It allows educational institutions and businesses to better align with each other. The business is acknowledged as an accredited training company after this training. It means that companies have the knowledge to guide interns in Aruba.
The first group of 44 employees from 22 companies who participated in the "Vocational Training" program have received their certificates, and the second group will receive their certificates in August. Each participating company has two (2) accredited mentors certified to guide interns correctly. During the internship, students will evaluate whether this is the work they want to pursue or need to choose a different direction.
In addition, an agreement was signed at the level of the Four Countries Consultation with the Dutch Minister of Education, Mr. Robbert Dijkgraff, approving 500 thousand euros per year for the Kingdom Scholarship (Koninkrijksbeurs). The Kingdom Scholarship project offers students the opportunity to do a six (6) month internship or study exchange in the Kingdom of the Netherlands. It helps prevent dropouts or disappointment when students choose to study abroad. Nine students from Colegio EPI and the University of Aruba received the Kingdom Scholarship.
Starting from September 1st, students will begin their study exchange or internship in one of the countries of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
