DIMAS Clarifies the Work Permit Process
ORANJESTAD – The Department for the Integration, Management and Admission of Foreign Nationals (DIMAS) considers it important to clarify that the process for applying for a work permit consists of several stages, each with its own authorities and responsibilities.
An essential part of this process is the mandatory medical examination. Once the permit process reaches this stage, the role of DIMAS is limited. From that point on, the handling and evaluation of the medical requirements fall under the responsibility of the Communicable Diseases Department (DBZ) of the Department of Public Health (DVG).
DIMAS has no influence over the medical evaluation nor over the time DBZ requires to process the information. However, in order to formally grant the work permit, it is necessary that the results and entry of the medical data are complete and have been registered in the DIMAS system by the DVG/DBZ official.
As long as this step has not been completed, DIMAS cannot proceed with approval of the permit, even if the applicant has met all other requirements. The permit process is an integrated system in which cooperation among agencies is essential to ensure a correct and lawful outcome.
