DEACI issues 230 new business licenses in the second quarter of 2024

This is an old post.

ORANESTAD—The Department of Economic Affairs, Commerce, and Industry (DEACI) received 549 various application for business license types from July to September 2024.

Of the 549 applications received, 218 were processed and granted the relevant permit, 170 are pending, and 161 could not be processed due to a lack of documents or payment.

Of the 549 applications received and the relevant permit granted, 230 are applications for new licenses from July to September 2024. Of the 230 new business permits granted, 21 were for the sole proprietorship, 13 for branches, 171 for Limited Liability Company (VBA), and 4 for a friend of a General Partnership (VOF). The types of commercial activity with more granted new licenses are real estate activities, holding companies, building and construction companies, coffee house restaurant cafes and other eateries, and beauty, massage, and hair salons.

The new business establishment policy, unveiled in October 2022 by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Communications, and Sustainable Development, intends to expedite the permit application process by removing several requirements, completely digitizing the permit application process, and encouraging investment in promising industries, downtown Oranjestad, San Nicolas, and other areas.

The aim of the new establishment policy is also to issue permits within two weeks.

To start a business or make changes to the business permit according to law, you must submit a digital application for a business permit to the Department of Economic Affairs, Commerce and Industry (DAECI), which is granted under the responsibility of the Ministry of Economic Affairs.

Minister of Economic Affairs, Communications, and Sustainable Development Geoffrey Wever thanks DAECI for ensuring that business permits are issued efficiently and quickly and for continuously compiling all information on the business permit process.
