Customs Holds Meeting with Customs Brokers.
ORANJESTAD - On Wednesday, August 6, 2025, Customs held a meeting at the John F. Kennedy Education Center, titled "A Moment with Customs," with brokers (customs brokers), the Aruba Trade & Industry Association (ATIA), and Merchants United Aruba (CUA).
They discussed various topics concerning services and collaboration in customs and passport matters.
In the presence of the Minister of Finance, Economic Affairs, and the Primary Sector, Mr. Geoffrey Wever, Director of Customs, Mr. Roderick Croes, the management team, experts, and Directors of ATIA and CUA, the customs brokers received a presentation from Customs, which addressed, among other things, the digitization of their procedures. Two procedures already digitized are the permit for organizing a car show and the service fees. Another procedure, the objection and appeal procedure, will take effect August 15, 2025. Customs will provide more information about this soon. There was also an opportunity for interaction to discuss the concerns and questions of customs brokers. The most frequently discussed topics included staff shortages at Customs, an explanation of the color classification (yellow, green, blue, and red) for goods inspection, and increased user access to the Asycuda system.
Minister Wever expressed his support for improving the quality of service provided to customs brokers. The role of a customs broker is crucial to the trade system, and their services support Aruba's economy. Therefore, it is essential to engage in dialogue and find a solution. Director of Customs, Sr. Croes, and the management team are pleased to see representatives from the customs brokerage and thank everyone for their participation and contributions.
