Clarification regarding the AZV Positive List

ORANJESTAD -  The Government of Aruba met with AZV and the Adviescommissie Geneesmiddelen to deliberate on the medicines that will be re-listed on the positive list.

129 medicines were put back on the list, leaving 92 off. The 92 medicines that were not re-listed were left out because the pharmaceutical company stopped production or because the Adviescommissie Geneesmiddelen Aruba considers them too addictive. As part of the preventive approach, it is prudent to be cautious about administering medication that can cause addiction and other health problems to patients.

The Government of Aruba is continuing discussions with the Pharmacy Association, AZV, and healthcare providers to establish criteria and standards for medicines. When this is completed, the final positive list will be publicized.
