Chinese Community in Aruba Collects 42 Pallets of Humanitarian Aid for Venezuela in Three Days

ORANJESTAD – On June 29, 2026, Prime Minister Mike Eman visited the Aruba New China Club Cooperative Association, where Aruba's Chinese community has been collecting a large quantity of essential humanitarian supplies for the people of Venezuela.

During the visit, the prime minister observed the community's relief efforts firsthand and met with William Ng, spokesperson for the Aruba New China Club, and Grislynn Hernandez, Executive Director of the VeneAruba Solidaria Foundation.

In just three days, the initiative collected 42 pallets of humanitarian aid for Venezuela. The donations include food, drinking water, personal hygiene products, and other essential supplies for those affected by last Wednesday's devastating earthquake.

Prime Minister Mike Eman emphasized that the response of Aruba's Chinese community is an example of how the island comes together in times of crisis.

"For us, this is a moment when communities unite. People of every nationality living in Aruba are responding to the tremendous need in Venezuela. Today, we are witnessing the Chinese community demonstrate an extraordinary spirit of solidarity. Many of its members also have family ties to Venezuela, making their commitment even more meaningful."

He added that the initiative reflects the willingness of Aruba's diverse communities to support those who need help the most.

William Ng explained that following an emergency meeting, the Aruba New China Club called on business owners, families, and members of the Chinese community to contribute donations.

"In just three days, we collected 42 pallets. Everyone contributed in one way or another. Some donated goods, others volunteered their time sorting and packing supplies, while others made financial contributions."

According to Ng, the donations include precooked cornmeal, bread, rice, sugar, cookies, drinking water, canned goods, rubbing alcohol, gloves, mops, and a variety of other essential items. He added that the collection drive is continuing and that additional donations are expected in the coming days.

During his visit, Prime Minister Eman thanked the Chinese community for its commitment.

"On behalf of the Government of Aruba, and also on behalf of the people of Venezuela, I would like to sincerely thank the Chinese community in Aruba. You have been an integral part of our society for many years, and thanks to your generosity and dedication, we are able to provide much-needed assistance to the Venezuelan people."

The Aruba New China Club is currently working with several partners to coordinate the transportation of the donations to Venezuela. Sea freight is one of the options under consideration, as it will help ensure that the humanitarian supplies reach the areas where the need is greatest.
