Celebrating International Customs Day 2026 in Bonaire and Aruba

ORANJESTAD - In January, the Customs Department celebrated its International Customs Day.

International Customs Day is celebrated annually on January 26. The World Customs Organization (WCO) chooses a theme each year that serves as a compass for all customs agencies worldwide to achieve common goals while respecting the needs of each country. This year's theme is "Customs protects society through vigilance and diligence."

Each year, a Caribbean country is selected to organize the celebration of International Customs Day. In 2026, the event was hosted by Bonaire. A week of various activities was organized, such as bocce ball (boules), dominoes, softball, land sailing, a shooting tournament, and of course, the official ceremony and reception in honor of International Customs Day. A delegation from Aruba participated in the week of activities, along with other invited countries such as Curaçao, Suriname, and the Netherlands.

Customs celebrated this special day with various activities, including a health fair hosted by Xavier University students and a healthy breakfast. Employees received a gift in recognition of their dedication. At the end of the day, there was a party for employees at the Hilton Hotel, featuring music by the band 'N Fuzion.

Customs honors and congratulates its employees for their professionalism, passion for their work, and commitment to the community.

In 2027, Aruba will host a successful Customs Week.
