Campaign "Make Aruba Pink" Launched for Breast Cancer Awareness Month
ORANJESTAD – In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month commemorated worldwide throughout October, the Government of Aruba announces its support for the national initiative "Make Aruba Pink."
Organized by the Foundation ABO through its national breast cancer screening efforts, "Make Aruba Pink" is an island-wide awareness and action campaign. The primary goal of the initiative is to emphasize the crucial role of prevention and early detection through regular mammograms and routine health check-ups.
Under the campaign slogan, "Pink is more than awareness. It is a reminder to get your screening," the initiative aims to turn passive health messages into active community involvement.
Island-Wide Support and Action
As part of this national movement, the Ministry of Kingdom Relations, Education, Youth, Innovation, and Sports—together with Guillermo Prospero Trinidad Stadium—is taking part in coloring Aruba pink.
The Ministry calls on all school principals, teachers, administrative staff, students, and families to join the movement by:
- Wearing pink throughout the month;
- Organizing educational activities centered on health and wellness;
- Fostering open discussions about early detection and preventative care.
"Education is our most powerful tool to bring about meaningful change and awareness in society. When we educate our youth and our community on the importance of taking care of their health and detecting illness early, we save lives," stated Minister of Kingdom Relations, Education, Youth, Innovation, and Sports, Gerlien Croes.
Breaking Taboos and Saving Lives
The "Make Aruba Pink" campaign serves as a powerful reminder that early detection saves lives. Bringing these conversations into schools, homes, and community spaces helps dismantle taboos and encourages health-conscious habits from a young age.
Minister Gerlien Croes expressed gratitude and recognition to all participating foundations, healthcare professionals, and volunteers who work tirelessly to deliver this vital message across every corner of Aruba.
