Call to All Livestock Farmers: Sale of Santa Rosa Animals Ahead of New Stock Arrival
ORANJESTAD — For the first time in 14 years, Aruba is importing new livestock for breeding.
This new genetic material will help strengthen local livestock farming and support more sustainable production for our community.
In preparation for the arrival of the new animals, Santa Rosa is selling a portion of its current herd through a raffle draw taking place next week.
The Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and Markets (DLVV), better known as Santa Rosa, is offering local small livestock farmers the opportunity to purchase selected animals. The livestock currently available for sale includes pigs as well as young adult and adult breeding bucks. Under DLVV’s plan, this select group will be sold, while another group of animals will be retained as part of the upgraded breeding program.
The government invites all interested and registered livestock farmers to contact DLVV this week to express their interest and sign up for next week's raffle.
Under established procedures, each buyer may purchase a maximum of two animals. The selected animal will be weighed, payment must be made at the DLVV cashier’s office, and the buyer is responsible for transportation.
To be eligible to purchase livestock from DLVV, interested parties must be registered as a farmer and/small livestock farmer with DLVV-Santa Rosa and meet the required conditions for livestock ownership.

Next week, the Ministry of Finance, Economic Affairs, and Primary Sector will share further details regarding the import of new animals, the new genetics, and the benefits this initiative will deliver to Aruba's primary sector. These represent concrete steps toward strengthening the primary sector for the benefit of Aruba.
